-
Yes! I offer virtual sessions throughout Virginia. My license (LPC) allows me to practice anywhere in Virginia, so you can meet with me from home, your office, or wherever you have a private space. I work with clients in Crozet, Charlottesville, Richmond, Northern Virginia and everywhere in between.
If you prefer in-person therapy, I can help connect you to a provider in your area.
-
I offer sessions Tuesdays through Thursdays between 9am-2pm. These daytime hours work well for virtual therapy during school hours, remote workers, stay-at-home parents, and flexible schedules.
If you need different times, feel free to reach out—I occasionally have openings outside these core hours.
-
I am not in-network with insurance companies and am considered an out-of-network (OON) provider.
It is encouraged to call your insurance provider, as some plans have out-of-network coverage and can reimburse you for service costs. At your request, I offer a superbill (a medical receipt) that you can submit to your insurance.
-
Individual sessions (50 minutes) are $150. Family sessions (50 minutes) are $175.
Payment is expected at the time of service and is processed securely through your client portal after each session. I accept major credit cards, HSA, and FSA plans.

Yes. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. You can cancel by text, email, or through the client portal.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments are charged the full session fee ($150 individual / $175 family). The time scheduled for your appointment is held for you, and this policy allows me to offer spots to others who need them.
I understand life happens—I offer one waived late cancellation per year. Insurance companies do not reimburse for late cancellation fees.
-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your services may cost. This is a federal protection under the "No Surprises Act" for clients paying out-of-pocket.
At Sunnyside Counseling, there are no surprise fees—you'll know the cost per session ($150 individual / $175 family) before your first appointment. If you have questions about billing, feel free to reach out.

Yes, absolutely! Virtual therapy has equally effective outcomes as in-person therapy for children, teens, and adults. Clients value the flexibility of their own space, convenience for school-hour sessions, and reduced barriers like office anxiety or childcare challenges. As a therapist, I also gain valuable insight into your world through virtual sessions.

Many families find school-hour sessions more convenient and help kids not miss after-school activities. We'll coordinate to find a time that works with your child's schedule.
For older teens, this is usually during homeroom or a free period—a class they feel confident keeping up with. Younger kids might meet from home, a parent's office space, or get picked up early. Some schools also welcome hosting virtual sessions in a private space on campus.
If you're interested in school-based sessions, reach out to your guidance counselor to explore options. For younger students, a staff member can help with login once you've signed a release form.

Play therapy works with children, teens, and even adults by incorporating play within sessions. It's kids' natural way of communicating and understanding the world—a way to express themselves and figure out problems.
In virtual sessions, we use digital tools like sand trays, dollhouses, drawing, videos, and books through an interactive platform (Teleo) designed specifically for online play therapy. I incorporate movement and don't expect kids to stay in one spot. As long as they're engaged and safe, they can use their space however they need. This flexibility creates a dynamic, comfortable experience just like in-person sessions.

EMDR therapy taps into your brain's natural way of processing to help heal situations where you feel stuck. When an experience overwhelms your nervous system, it can leave you feeling helpless or fearful. EMDR helps release these stuck points using bilateral stimulation (alternating eye movements or sounds) so your brain can process without verbally explaining everything. It's particularly effective for anxiety, trauma, and perfectionism patterns.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and actions influence each other.
It is common to develop patterns that were once helpful but have run their course and are no longer serving you well. CBT is particularly effective for identifying anxiety and perfectionism patterns, and it gives you practical tools to shift toward more helpful ways of thinking and responding.
Together, we'll work on recognizing these patterns and building new skills that support your well-being.
